July 26 at 5:44 PMResearching before placing my grocery order tomorrow! Small amounts of excess plastic add up, but there are some good alternatives.

July 26 at 7:22 AMSuccesses & failures while out of town helping family member move: 1. Brought refillable stainless steel travel mug 2. Forgot to use my packed utensils with take-out food 3. Prevented many items from landfill by diverting to donation 4. At hotel there was no bin for cardboard or paper which surprised me

July 26 at 7:17 AMI spoke with the community organizer of a monthly downtown lunch for the homeless in my community that uses styrofoam and plastic & one-time use bags. I donated cloth bags, refillable cups and he and I discussed ways to reuse one-time use bags. He said some groups weave bags into sleeping mats that are surprisingly durable.

July 25 at 2:34 PMSpent the day helping family members move. Many times I stopped them from tossing usable items and set them aside for donation.

July 25 at 11:11 AMI will be a host for a group of friends on July 31 and we will use all paper or reusable containers.

July 24 at 11:37 AMI was given the idea to use beeswax wrap in place of plastic wrap and sandwich wrap. The product may be more expensive at first, but it is reusable and seems easy to rinse and dry. Plus, you can find cute patterns! 😊

July 24 at 7:56 AMDriving out of state today so I’m packing and using my stainless steel tumbler. What do you do for the duration of a trip? How do I avoid plastic bottles when we stop for gas and water?
-
July 23 at 6:48 PMRewatching some videos today that I viewed at the beginning of the challenge hit me differently now that I’ve learned so much about the pervasiveness of plastic. It has its place for good but in many ways is clogging everything up - including recycling plants!
-
July 22 at 2:25 PMI'm happy to report that I convinced a coworker to fix a hose with a simple mender rather than throwing the entire thing away for a new one!
