James's actions

First Steps: Start with You

Learn how plastic is made

Understanding the origins of plastic helps us see its environmental impact more clearly. I will spend 10 minutes learning how plastic is made — from fossil fuels to finished product — and reflect on how that knowledge influences my choices.

COMPLETED 2
DAILY ACTIONS

First Steps: Start with You

Put reusables where I'll remember them

Reusables only help if we use them! I will set up a system that helps me remember my reusable bags, bottles, containers, or utensils — whether that means keeping them by the door, in my car, or in my bag.

COMPLETED 3
DAILY ACTIONS

Lead the Way: Shape Your Community

Host a “bring your own container” lunch or event

Gatherings are a great time to model new habits. I will plan or participate in a lunch or event where people bring their own containers, utensils, or cups to reduce single-use plastic.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Level Up: Influence Friends and Family

Prep a reusable kit for on-the-go

Having reusables ready and integrated into your daily routine can help you avoid single-use plastic while out and about. I will put together a kit with items like a mug, water bottle, utensils, or tote bag to take with me when I leave the house.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Level Up: Influence Friends and Family

Visit a local recycling center, landfill, or transfer station

Seeing where waste goes can change how we think about what we throw away. I will visit a local facility to learn more about the waste stream in my community and share what I learn with others and in the feed.

On my walk this morning I found no trash , no plastic bottles but park seem to be full of people because of cool weather.
Talk to a few people about how clean the park was today and this was a good day to end the challenge.
I will keep up the challenge this year

Long walk today a lot of trash and bottles found must be because of the heat. Its good people are getting out early and drinking water but need to pick up after them selves.

I have been talking to several people about using less plastic for events and they agree asking other to bring reusable to events is a great idea.

To Stacy and Lauren we are on the same wavy link. Thank you for what you do to help this cause.
When I watch a film on all that plastic found in the ocean it makes me wonder where it came from.
So each time we pick up a tossed bottle or cup to recycle it help in a small way.
